Getting Hitched

 After all the excitement of the BIG announcement….there are some things that you need to do to get the ball rolling.

Fill out an Enquiry Form on my Contact Me’ page so I can send through a quote and information on what to do next. From there we can make a time to meet up or have a FaceTime chat. This is a chance for you to get to know me, and see that I am the perfect celebrant for you. This is, of course, a no-obligation meeting and it will give you a chance to hear about all the ins and outs of what you need to get legally married. I am happy to meet you over a coffee or drink at one of our many cafes/pubs in Berry where I am located or at a venue that suits us all.

Booking

Once you both have made the decision to have me as your celebrant (great decision by the way!)… I will require a $350 booking fee that is non-refundable. This secures your wedding date and from there we can get started on all the fun stuff……designing your ceremony.

Your ceremony should showcase your relationship with all your guests and so I love hearing about how you met, your first date, your first impressions of each other, how your friends felt when you got together, meeting family for the first time. Travel stories, about your pets, what you love to do together, funny stories about your time spent together, if your partner has any crazy talents, and what you look forward to in your future as a married couple.

But of course, if you don’t feel like you have such a crazy getting-together story…don’t worry. I am very good at ‘polishing the turd’ as they say in the writing biz, and can make your story seem like a Hollywood movie script and make you both sound awesome.

I love hearing about how you both picture your ceremony. And if you aren’t sure….then I am happy to assist you design and construct the perfect ceremony for you. From the layout of the location, music, length of your ceremony, your personal vows, inclusion of family members, and wet weather contingency plans. I will even give you tips on how to accommodate kids and pets during the ceremony. Two things I love at weddings.

My services include:

*Initial meeting with myself at a venue that suits you both. Normally an hour or so. And if we can’t meet up in person…we can always have a FaceTime chat.

*Private consultation regarding the ceremony…emails, phone calls or meetings.

*Write a kick-ass ceremony according to the couple’s story.

*Work individually with the couple to write their personal vows.

*Provide Professional Audio System – Bose S1 Pro with Seinhesser cordless microphones and use of Bluetooth facilities if you choose to use a Playlist for your music. 

*Administration and documentation of all marriage documents including application fees. (amounting to $60 to Births Deaths and Marriages.)

*Print out your vows and present them in a hard binding folder for you to read from on the day.

*Chilling out those wedding day nerves and making sure the parents are all behaving. Hee hee!

*Solemnisation of marriage as a civil marriage celebrant.

*Travel to and from the venue for the wedding day within one hour from Berry. (Travel costs are added beyond that)

*Presentation of Marriage Certificate at the ceremony.

*Copy of your ceremony and vows in print for the couple to keep.

*Application Fees to Birth, Deaths and Marriages for your Official Marriage Certificate.

This is where I will take care of everything for you including providing all the boring legal paperwork required for a marriage in NSW under the Marriage Act 1961 with Births, Deaths and Marriages.

Before your Wedding, you will need to complete a Notice of Intended Marriage Form (NOIM) at least one month prior to your wedding.  It can also be lodged with me up to 18 months in advance of the Wedding.

Forms of ID required –

a) Original Birth Certificate and a photo ID eg: Current Drivers Licence or Proof of Age Card

OR

b) Passport

AND

c) If you are divorced or widowed you will need proof of how your previous marriage ended eg: a Divorce Certificate or Death Certificate from your previous partner.

Any documents in a foreign language must be translated into English and a Translation Certificate supplied.

Witnesses

You are required to have two witnesses who are both over the age of 18 present to sign the Marriage Register and Certificates. Both witnesses must speak and understand English. I will require their FULL names to include on your marriage documents.

On the day

You will both have a lot to do on the day so it is my job to make sure all the little things are in place. I will work with your stylist, (if you use one) to ensure everything looks as we discussed in our meetings. I will arrive 45-60 minutes before the ceremony allowing me plenty of time to set up my sound system, and check-in with the wedding party before we start, and warm up the crowd. I will be there for you throughout the entire ceremony so if there are nerves or tears…I got you! We will all celebrate your story, have a lot of laughs, maybe a few sweet tears (most likely by the parents), we will sign the registry and then I get to announce you all loved up and hitched. And it’s off to celebrate you all go! EASY!

After the ceremony

I will submit the marriage documents to Births, Deaths and Marriages (BDM) to finalise legalities. I also help out by sending an application for the official BDM certificate which is now required by many organisations for change of name. So all you need to worry about is enjoying your reception and your honeymoon.

The value of a celebrant –

So with EVERYTHING that you have to consider in your wedding budget…I totally understand that you are trying to cut costs where you can. So if you are thinking of spending less on your celebrant so that you can have a parade of Alpacas walk through your cocktail hour to impress all your guests…then we need to talk!

I guarantee you that your guests will be FAR more impressed with a fun and talented celebrant ready to jump in… feet first to make your day engaging and entertaining. Don’t make your ceremony the BORING part of your entire wedding, with your guests looking at their watches wondering when they are bringing out the drinks.

Make your ceremony the ‘party starter’ for your big day.

Gone are the days that the ceremony is long-winded and super drab. Getting the right celebrant… (ahh that’s ME BY THE WAY) will set the tone for the whole day. And this comes from an experienced, motivated, professional celebrant who is wanting to put more into your ceremony than just reading the same hum-drum mass-produced script. BORING!!!

And that’s why I want to spend time with you both, talking about what we can add to your ceremony to make it totally unique and have all your guests commenting on how awesome your ceremony was. I am an experienced writer and can have all your guests crying from laughter OR how darn cute you both are. Either way, they will enjoy every minute of it and be wondering if I have known you both for years. Now that is far more important than having an Alpaca spit at your guests.

When I sign up a couple, there are endless emails, phone calls, and meetings offered. Whatever you need! I don’t charge extra for using my high-quality Bose S1 Pro Sound System and cordless microphone, or Bluetoothing your ceremony music through my speaker…I don’t charge extra for ordering your Marriage Certificate, (which costs $60) with Births Deaths and Marriages after your ceremony…I don’t charge ridiculous charges for travel… and if you just want a quickie, then that’s what I will charge you for. Nothing more!

Don’t underestimate what a damn good celebrant can do for you both leading up to your wedding either. Feeling supported and reassured by your celebrant can make a world of difference to how you feel about your wedding day. Nurturing you both with your vows and your nerves on the day is what I do best. Having someone you relate to and trust, will allow you to just focus on the good stuff and head on down that aisle with full confidence that you are about to absolutely rock it!!!

Go cheap and you risk falling asleep at your own wedding…EEK!!!
